In the suburban town of Sapele, Delta state, Nigeria. A young promising 28-year-old student of Delta state University, lives with his family and hustles day and night to cater for his mom and siblings.
Popularly referred to as OG, Oghenemena was an upcoming artiste, very active with the community and loved by many. Another saddening fact is that Mena’s mom confirmed that his brother was also lost to police brutality a few years ago.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2026, when operatives attached to the Effurun Area Command responded to intelligence from the Benin Motor Park along the Warri–Sapele Expressway. According to the Delta State Police Command, OG was apprehended while allegedly attempting to waybill a parcel containing a Beretta pistol with four rounds of ammunition of which the suspect claimed to know nothing about.
OG said he had been deceived and was only sent to receive a parcel at a waybill terminus. “Officers, abeg, I go tell you everything. Na my friend deceive me. E dey Sapele. I go carry you go the place,” OG desperately begged, before he was shot twice. OG fell to the ground as bystanders watched. The officers then placed his body into a Toyota Sienna vehicle marked ‘The Nigeria Police Force Effurun Area Command, Uvwie’.
The commissioner of police has since directed that the police commander involved, Usman, appear before the Force Disciplinary Committee in Abuja, currently in session, for disciplinary action and possible prosecution.
